Dr. Boyd is a synthetic inorganic and electrochemist by training whose current research interests encompass aspects of polymer chemistry, inorganic chemistry and materials science. His primary research involves sulfur-based chemistries such as inverse vulcanization and photoinitiated thiol click chemistry. The result of these efforts are polymers that possess unique optical properties, and functional thermal & mechanical properties. He is the winner of several awards, including the 2016 Lloyd N. Ferguson Young Scientist Award from NOBCChE. Dr. Boyd also spends much time working to encourage youths to pursue careers in science, which includes running the site http://www.drboydthechemist.com/
